The Church of the Nazarene was founded in 1895 in Los Angeles, California by P.F. Bresee. Bresee, a former Methodist minister, sought to return to John Wesley's original mission to reach the poor and needy with the Good News of Jesus. From these humble beginnings the Church of the Nazarene has grown to have international influence with congregations in over 120 countries of the world. Our International Headquarters and Theological Seminary is in Kansas City, Missouri.
Meanwhile, the Church of the Nazarene has been in Santa Barbara since 1910 and the Coast Community Church (formerly Trinity Church of the Nazarene) has been in existence since 1960. We are a church with a commitment to the entire world that God has created with a deep recognition that this commitment is first of all to be exhibited in the local setting. The Church of the Nazarene in Santa Barbara is a church with a strong heritage, and an even stronger desire to impact our community today for Jesus Christ. |
